This year’s dinner is being held in association with The Rongotai College Old Boys Association and hosted by ourselves and our good friends at Poneke. For many of us, Rongotai College has provided a pathway from junior to senior rugby, and now 'The Next Generation' are experiencing the camaraderie and enjoyment of Rongotai Rugby. Whether it was turning out for the 5B's, u55kg or the 1st XV everyone has made a significant contribution to the values and culture that is Rongotai Rugby. Many stories to tell, not of ones own exploits on the field but of others who have worn the #GoldenFleece of the 'Coutts St Academy'. We do not tell our own stories but take great pride and enjoyment of telling stories of 'others' on field courage and brilliance. 'A Celebration of Rongotai College Rugby' is an opportunity to tell those stories and collectively acknowledge the achievements of our national representatives. 'Dad' Fathers was the first ever coach of the 1st XV in 1928 and Pat Tipping was the captain and since then the school has had 8 students who have gone on to represent New Zealand as an All Black Ron Horsley, Mick Williment, Graham Williams, Clive Currie, Brian McGrattan, Ofisa Tonu'u, Ma'a Nonu and Julian Savea. They have provided a great source of pride and enjoyment to their respective generations and this evening is to acknowledge these 8 as a starting point for this annual fundraising function Rongotai College has many 'unwritten' and 'unspoken' values and our 'brotherhood' is unconditional. No one should go without an education or an opportunity to compete on the sports fields wearing 'the jersey'. Rongotai College rugby needs your help. We need to raise money for our ever growing junior, senior and 7's programmes. We are giving kids experiences of a lifetime with quality coaching resources and mentoring. We have several initiatives and projects we want to fund. These funds will simply give our students the 'opportunity' to chase their dreams. Our supporter base is of huge value to us and we recognise you as a major 'influence' on our players. You can help by purchasing a ticket to this event and help write the book, THE STORY OF RONGOTAI RUGBY - by OTHERS Helping us write this will be two familiar Old Boys from different era's GRANT NESBITT (1964-67) - Sky Rugby commentator TOFIGA FEPULEA'i (1988-92) - Laughing Samoan We look forward to seeing you and thank you for your support of Rongotai College Rugby Check us out at www.rcrugby.org.nz TICKETS are $100 and available from info@ories.org.nz Rongotai College Rugby 1st XV has partnered with Canteen as part of their 'social responsibility' pillar. $5 from each ticket sold will go to Canteen Some Important Dates Jimmy Grbich Shield.
